Hi! Is there a way to find and harmonize the possible duplicates for journal names in “Journal” and “Cited Journal” fields of my database? On cited journal co-citation maps, for instance, I find “Research Policy” in one node, “Res. Pol.” in another. And there might be other journal names with duplicates.
Many thanks for your help.
Quentin
Dear Quentin,
It is a classic problem of names alignment: your analysis relies on how the fields are built by the data provider.
For example, for Web of science Core Collection data, the documentation explains what are the abbreviations used for Cited Ref journal name : Web of Science Core Collection > Cited Reference Search > click on “View abbreviation list” after selecting Cited Work field.
I think there are resources on internet that could be found on that. You may want to apply one of these correspond lists (abbreviated name -> full journal name) to your dataset in CorText Manager: you will need to use Corpus List Indexer script to Cited Journal Name. If you want to elaborate more on that you can send us an email.
