Matrice de contingence

Nathalie KAKPO asked 7 months ago

Hello,
I’m writing to you about a contingency matrix I’ve made, with which I’m having difficulty interpreting; what do the negative values mean, please? In my case, I was looking for the dependency link between authors and keywords in my corpus.
I was also unable to download an image to illustrate my point.
Thank you for your help.

Dear Nathalie,

  • Positive values mean an over-representation (red).
  • Negative values mean an under-representation (blue).

You need to read the matrix by rows or columns. This is how over- and under-representations appear.
This first basic interpretation varies according to the contingency analysis measure you have chosen. See the CorTexT documentation page for the effect of choosing one measure or another.
To find out whether the deviations are statistically significant, you need to activate the option: Evaluate whether deviations are statistically significant. If so, you will see crosses in the contingency matrix where the deviation are not significant.
I hope it helps,
L
